Podkowa Leśna was built in the 1920s to a design by Antoni Jawornicki. Its creation was linked to the construction of an electric railway linking Grodzisk Mazowiecki with Warsaw. A garden city was built on the land of the industrialist Stanislaw Lilpop. Low, one-storey villas were built on large plots of land. At that time, Podkowa Leśna was divided into four zones – the streets in each zone were named after the same “family” – birds, animals, trees and flowers. The streets in the central part of the town are arranged in a horseshoe shape.
The town is situated in one of the most attractive areas, surrounded by forest on three sides. This has a direct influence on the natural qualities of the place, the fresh air, the rich fauna and flora.

An important point on the culinary map of Podkowa Leśna is also the Mediterranean Alebosco Restaurant with its excellent author’s cuisine, and if you want to relax and meet on a Sunday afternoon with a cup of aromatic coffee and a delicious dessert with friends, it is worth spending this time in the “Zabytek Bistro&Bar”. It is an ideal place to savour the flavours and atmosphere of the charming central part of Podkowa Leśna.
Podkowa Leśna offers a large green area where you can enjoy various outdoor activities, it is an ideal place for cycling, morning jogging or spending an afternoon at one of the most popular horse stables.
